Find a BACB Certified ABA Therapist

Finding an ABA (Applied Behavioural Analyst) Therapist to work with your child is the cornerstone of a science based treatment plan for your child with autism. ABA Therapy is recommended by the CDC, the American Academy of Pediatrics and many others.  ABA therapy has a large body of science based evidence supporting its' effectiveness in treating kids with Autism.  Your child's school or early intervention program may provide you with an ABA therapist, or you may have to seek one out on your own.  A good place to begin is the The Behavior Analyst Certification Board.  The BACB is a non-profit organization established to provide professional credentialing of behavior analysts.

Another great ABA resource is the Lovaas Institute.

Find a Speech Therapist

Speech Therapy is required for nearly all kids with Autism, since by definition most ASDs entail a significant language delay.  Chances are that your child will receive speech therapy either through a school based therapist, through your local early intervention, or privately.  ASHA (the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association) is the professional, scientific, and credentialing association that represents the more than 130,000 Speech Language Pathologists and Audiologists in the U.S..  Their site features a locator that can make finding a private speech therapist much easier.
